Delegate’s impression by Mr. Ranjit Chauhan, Verma Import & Export, Chandigarh

I consider myself amongst the most fortunate because I had the opportunity to attend the action packed educative mission to Flanders from 6 to 9 March 2017 organized by BLBA New Delhi.

The mission centered on what Flanders (the northern part of Belgium) can do for India to reduce its tremendous food wastage created by improper agriculture techniques and lack of adequate food processing and handling.

The companies visited offered us valuable technical assistance and advice to reduce food wastage in India.  By improving it levels of food processing, India might have the capacity to create a food surplus. Flanders could step in to improve the shelf life of vegetables and agri-products and offer the Indian consumer healthy and fresh food items. Technology and the right processes have the potential to double the output and half the prices.

BLBA brought these technique and processes in real time viewing and every delegation member was listening carefully to the educative information provided by the respective plant managers. BLBA has put in a lot of efforts to show us world class players in food processing and technology. We appreciate BLBA’s plans to share Flanders’ excellence in food growing and processing with the Indian Government and other private entrepreneurs.

The delegation had perhaps the once in a life time chance to visit d’Arta, a fully automated frozen vegetable producer. We also visited many other food manufacturing and processing units that could be second to none on the planet.

During the seminar on “Opportunities in India for Flemish food technology” various guest speakers heading mammoth food processing units were sharing their experience, expertise and knowledge with the Indian delegation.

BLBA even managed to put us on a one to one platform with the knowledgeable mayor of Roeselare who noted our interest in a JV to help India and make a difference in the food output and preservation techniques.

Finally, thank you BLBA for this wonderful opportunity!

The BLBA team was very professional in organizing and executing the mission to Flanders with all human touch and care.

They arranged several factories visits (Pattyn Packing Lines, Vandemoortele, d’Arta and REO Veiling). The visits and explanations by the plant managers were very interesting for the Indian delegates to know more about the latest food processing technologies.

The technological excellence of these family run companies, their effective management and continuous growth invite high regard.

The seminar organized by BLBA and AGORIA on 7th March 2017 in the presence of officials of Flanders Investment and Trade and the Embassy of India to Belgium was a brilliant forum to explain India’s potential for Flemish companies. Meeting with the Mayor of the city of Roeselare and his team became a source of enthusiasm.

During this trip the interactions with the business community in Belgium have impressed us in such a way that we want to visit the country again to explore the opportunities waiting for us.  It will benefit both the countries as the Belgian entrepreneurs are also interested in trading with India.  This will lead to rewarding results.

We are very grateful to BLBA for providing us this opportunity which can boost our business in future.
