On Thursday 30 April the BBA co-hosted a lunch seminar on security with the Swedisch Chamber of Commerce in India (SCCI). Around 40 participants gathered to listen to Dr. Ajai Sahni, Executive Director of the Institute for Conflict Management in New Delhi and Mr. Kris Van den Briel, President South Asia of the security service provider company Securitas.

Dr. Sahni provided a general assessment of the security situation in the subcontinent and talked about lessons learnt from past terror attacks, different patterns of threat in urban and rural industrial areas, and shared some intelligence insights on possible future security threats.

Seminar on doing business in India for Belgian business delegation
In March 2009, a large delegation of Belgian business leaders visited India. The trip was organized by VOKA, the Flemish Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and lead by the governor of the province of West Flanders, Mr. Paul Breyne.

On February 1st, 2009, BBA and their family were invited to the Annual BBA Social Get-Together in the Unitech Club, Club Patio. There was a bouncy castle and a magic show for the children and both children and members enjoyed playing sports and games.

September 30th 2008 – Annual General Meeting
On September 30, 2008, the Belgian Business Association held its Annual General Meeting at Hyatt Regency at 06:00pm. The main objective of the AGM was to discuss the Annual and Financial Report for the past year (May 2007-May 2008) as well as to elect the members for Executive Committee (Excom).

On September 13th, 2008, BBA’s annual Charity Event took place the residence of H.E. the Ambassador of Belgium.
This year, the BBA supported PRAYAS an NGO which is serving around 50,000 children in 7 states of India. In Delhi, Prayas works in close partnership with department of Social welfare ,women and children development in areas of gender Resource center, stree shakti, children’s home / juvenile’s home and multiple issues of beggary, homelessness, street children and child labour.

On february 1, 2008, the Belgian Business Association organized a luncheon-conference on the theme “Mergers and Acquisitions and its impact”.
Mr Joy Jain, from Price Waterhouse Coopers, assessed the current situation and spoke on Mergers and Acquisitions and its impact in India.
The presentation was followed by a Q&A session and lunch.

On October 19, 2007 the BBA organized a lunch seminar in Hotel Claridges featuring the following topics and speakers:

Investment Promotion Facilitation into India: Dr Navendu Karan, from Price Water House Coopers, also associated with EU-IFD National Office and working through FICCI assessed the current situation and spoke on Investment Promotion Facilitation into India.
HR Challenges in today’s Business environment: Mr Ashu Malhotra, HR-Director from Alcatel-lucent.

The seminar was followed by a Q&A session and lunch.

On September 28, 2007 a cocktail reception in honor of the President of the Port of Zeebrugge was hosted by the Ambassador of Belgium H.E. Mr. Jan Deboutte at his residence.

The evening started with a performance by the talented Shrimati Baneshree Falisse and was followed by a buffet dinner served at the Residence of the Ambassador, across the lawns. This event was co-organised by the Embassy of Belgium and the Belgian Business Association.
