The European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC), Delhi, was launched in October 2008, with the objective to support European business and researchers to enter the Indian market. Its focus is to develop services and initiatives in priority sectors related to climate change and facilitate market access. As part of the EU Global Europe strategy, EBTC should contribute to the competitiveness of the European economy.
EBTC has been established by EUROCHAMBRES and a consortium of 16 partner organisations, including Chambers of Commerce and leading European research groups. EBTC is co-financed by the European Commission on the basis of a 5-year grant contract.
EUROCHAMBRES is currently recruiting a new Director for the EBTC programme, to be based in Delhi (India). More detailed information and a job description available below.

BBA member, M.V.Kini & Co., has achieved top ranking in Dealogic’s “Global Project Finance Review,” covering the global project finance marketplace in 1H 2009.
According to Dealogic, the total Global Project Finance volume decreased by 41% to $115.0bn in 1H 2009, compared with $193.5bn raised in1H 2008. Western European project finance volume reached $25.6bn; whereas Asian volume reached $36.0bn, an increase of 6% on 1H 2008 and the highest first half volume on record. India led the nationality rankings globally with $31.9bn.

Kanaal Z, the Belgian Business TV station, has aired a documentary on doing business in India, in which BBA members AB Inbev India, Barco, Picanol, representatives from Flanders Investment and Trade and representatives from IDBI Fortis, Port of Antwerp, and Puratos were interviewed. The documentary is in Flemish, but most interviews are in English. Congratulations to all BBA members who participated in this documentary!

AWEX, the Government Agency of the Wallonia Region of Belgium, in charge of stimulating exports and foreign direct investment is organizing a pavilion of companies at the upcoming Medical Fair India 2009, to be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, from 27th to 29th of March 2009.
This will be the 15th edition of Medical Fair India, the largest multi-faculty medical platform in India bringing together equipment manufacturers, distributors, traders, hospital administrators and medical professionals (both surgeons and general practitioners).

Wallonia Export and Investment (AWEX) organized a business delegation to India from 22nd September to 26th September 2008. H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Marcourt, Minister for Economy, Employment, Foreign Trade and Heritage, Government of the Wallonia Region of Belgium, lead the delegation of about 20 entrepreneurs from Wallonia and Brussels. This was the second such working visit of Minister Marcourt in India since March 2006.
The business delegation visited New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Mumbai. In each city, industry seminars, round table meetings and B2B meetings were organized concurrently. The program and presentation of the delegates are available below.
In New Delhi, a technical seminar in the life science / biotech sector was planned to showcase Wallonia/Belgium as a hub in Europe for Indian biotech companies and to explore other opportunities of cooperation between India and Wallonia. The seminar took place on Monday September 22 in the morning.
In Bangalore, AWEX, SKYWIN (the association of aerospace companies from Wallonia) and SIATI (the association of Indian aerospace companies) organized an aerospace seminar on Thursday September 25th 2008 with additional B2B meetings.
