On February 19, 2010, the Belgian-Luxembourg Business Association, New Delhi (BLBA), the Indo German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) & KPMG organized a seminar on Recent Changes in the Social Security Regime for Foreign Nationals & how will it affect cross-border employment – the case for Europe and India.
The seminar focused on providing information on recent changes in the social security regime for foreign nationals in India and in Europe. Ms. Shilpa Patankar, Senior Manager Tax Department, BSR & Co, provided a general overview of the social security regime in India and also specifically covered aspects relating to Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg , the Netherlands and Switserland, based on the social security agreements (SSA) signed between India and these three countries. Mr. Filip Saelens, Partner Loyens & Loeff Belgium, focused on how the New European Social Security Regulation, which will enter into force as of May 1st, 2010, will affect cross border employment.

On the occasion of the Belgian economic mission that will be presided by HRH Prince Philippe and which will be in India from 20 to 27 March 2010, the Belgian Publishing House Versant Sud will print an art-book: ‘Belgian Heritage in India’, written by Philippe Falisse, who lived 40 years in India and worked as Attaché Culturel at the Belgian Embassy in Delhi. The book aims at arising the readers’ interest towards the Belgian cultural heritage that is present in India such as the Belgian glass, paintings of Flemish masters etc. It pays a special tribute to eminent Belgian personalities who spent their lives in India and stood out in different fields. …
